Dental Implants Q&A

How does the dental implant process work?

Dr. Zack works closely with a highly referred board-certified periodontist and dental implant surgeon, Dr. Terance Jackson, to ensure that your dental implants are done optimally.

Dr. Jackson typically performs any necessary extractions and prepares the mouth for the dental implants. Additionally, Dr. Zack creates impressions of your mouth, which he sends to a trusted dental lab so your implants can be fabricated.

After receiving your dental implants are installed, you continue seeing Dr. Zack for follow-ups. If you need further surgery in the future, he again coordinates with the periodontal surgeon to make sure that you receive optimal care.

How do you take care of dental implants?

Dental implants don't require any more care than natural teeth. Use a soft bristle toothbrush to brush twice a day, and floss daily to remove debris and buildup around the gums. Even though all of your teeth may be prosthetic with the All-on-4 dental implant system, that doesn't mean that you can ignore oral hygiene.

It's more vital than ever that you keep your gums and jaw in optimal health when you have dental implants. Doing so ensures that they continue to be strong enough to support your implants long-term.

How long will dental implants last?

Dental implants usually last for 20 years or more. For many patients who practice excellent oral care, they last a lifetime. The non-implant component of All-on-4 won't last as long as the implants themselves, but that part of the arch is replaceable after 5-10 years.

Dental implants can allow you to eat, talk, and live normally again. Want to learn more? Schedule a dental implant consultation with Dr. Zack using the online appointment tool today.

What are All-on-4 dental implants?

All-on-4 dental implants are a whole mouth teeth replacement system that requires only four dental implants for each arch (four for the top row of teeth and four for the bottom row of teeth). The dental implants are placed in specific positions, two at the back of the mouth and two close to the front, to provide optimal stability for an entire row of prosthetic teeth.
